The Lip Augmentation Procedure

Lip augmentation is a simple, quick, nonsurgical procedure. First, your lips are injected with a local anesthetic. Then, they are injected with Restylane®, a dermal filler. Restylane® has a texture similar to the collagen and fat in the lips, so it gives a very natural appearance. It is injected to preserve and accentuate the natural contour of the lips, so it will not dramatically alter their appearance. It gives a noticeable boost, but just enough to make a difference.

Sometimes, lip augmentation is performed using fat injection. During this procedure fat is removed from your abdomen or buttocks, purified, and injected into regions where you desire it. This is an alternative for lip augmentation that may give permanent results (as opposed to the temporary results of Restylane®-based lip augmentation), but may require overfilling and possibly more than one treatment to achieve optimal results.
