Radiesse® in Charleston, SC

Deeper wrinkles and folds take a bit more effort to diminish or erase. At Port City Plastic Surgery, Dr. Brian G. Widenhouse, a board-certified plastic surgeon treats people in Charleston, Daniel Island, Summerville and Mount Pleasant, SC, and the surrounding area with Radiesse® who show moderate to severe signs of aging and want to restore volume to their faces to look more youthful and refreshed.

What is Radiesse®?

Radiesse® is a dermal filler that targets more severe wrinkles, lines, and folds on the face. It is done by increasing collagen and elastin production with its composition of calcium-based microspheres. It is especially beneficial at treating marionette lines, nasolabial folds and the folds and creases around the chin that tend to drag down someone’s entire facial expression and create an older appearance. Radiesse® is injected into the deeper layers of skin to lift and add volume and elasticity so that skin looks smoother and fresher.

How Much Does Radiesse® Cost?

The cost of Radiesse® is based on how many areas are to be treated, the extent of those areas and whether this treatment is combined with others. Therefore, it is different for each person. During a consultation, we can go over the costs including payment and financing options.

Benefits of Radiesse®

Radiesse® is FDA-approved to treat more severe wrinkles and lines by increasing collagen production and offers the following benefits:

  • Little to no risk of negative reaction
  • Natural looking results
  • Quick treatment
  • Long-lasting
  • No recovery or side-effects
  • Immediate results
  • Requires only one treatment for most people

Who is the Ideal Candidate for Radiesse®?

Radiesse® is ideal for anyone wanting to add volume to moderate to severe folds and lines. Most people respond well to Radiesse® and enjoy the natural looking results. Dr. Widenhouse evaluates the skin to determine if Radiesse® or another dermal filler is the best option.

What Do I Do to Prepare for Radiesse®?

With Radiesse®, there is no preparation except to make sure Dr. Widenhouse has a list of all medications you are currently taking. Additionally, we recommend that you stop taking any medications or supplements that may thin the blood to prevent excess bruising.

What Should I Expect the Day of Radiesse® Treatments?

During Radiesse® treatments, the gel is injected in small amounts into the deeper layers of the skin with ultra-fine gauge needles. After it is injected, Dr. Widenhouse gently massages the area to make sure the gel is absorbed. Even though the treatment is not painful or uncomfortable, we can apply a topical or local anesthetic if needed. Immediately after the injections are completed, we apply ice packs to ensure no swelling.

What to Expect After Radiesse®

There is no downtime with Radiesse® treatments although there may be some slight redness or swelling immediately following a treatment session. These typically diminish within a day and disappear a short period later. We do recommend you avoid touching or massaging the area for about 24 hours following the treatment as well as applying makeup if possible.

When Can I Expect to See the Results from Radiesse®?

The results from Radiesse® start to become visible within a short time following the treatments with the full effects improving over the next couple of months. Radiesse® is long-lasting – at least a year or more for most people. It is common for people to require only one treatment session to achieve the desired look.
