If you desire to rid targeted areas of the body of fat cells without undergoing invasive liposuction, CoolSculpting® may be the perfect treatment option that will help you accomplish your aesthetic goals. Widenhouse offers CoolSculpting® for patients who live in Charleston, Daniel Island, Mount Pleasant, Summerville and the surrounding communities in South Carolina.

What Is CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is a new innovation in non-invasive body sculpting procedures. Developed by Harvard scientists, the unique, FDA-cleared, patented procedure uses a targeted cooling process to freeze fat cells underneath the skin to the point of elimination. Only fat cells are frozen. Your healthy skin cells remain, and there are no incisions, suction hoses, needles or scars. CoolSculpting® is quickly becoming one of the most popular body contouring procedures available.

Port City Plastic Surgery’s CoolSculpting® procedure is perfect for patients at or near their ideal weight who have stubborn fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. Port City’s CoolSculpting® is the natural, non-invasive way to sculpt your body. A patented cooling process targets fat cells only, which your body then eliminates through its own natural processes. CoolSculpting® is effective for treating larger fat deposits, such as those on the abdomen, including those commonly referred to as “muffin top” and “love handles.”

How Much Does CoolSculpting® Cost in Charleston?

The cost of CoolSculpting® starts at $600 per small applicator, and discounts are available with multiple treatments.  The cost of CoolSculpting® will be discussed with you prior to the procedure. For your convenience, we accept payments by cash, check, and major credit card. Financing is also available to help make cosmetic procedures affordable for everyone.

What To Expect After CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® requires no downtime. Mild pain may be experienced in the few days following the procedure, as may light bruising and redness.

Will I Have Scars After Getting CoolSculpting®?

No! CoolSculpting® removes fat deposits without leaving behind scars! It is a non-surgical procedure.

When Will I See The Results?

CoolSculpting® in Charleston, SC

Once crystallized, the fat cells die and are naturally eliminated from your body over a period of two to three months following the procedure. CoolSculpting® can rid the body of 20 percent or more fat in the treatment area.

More than one treatment is generally necessary to produce desired results.

What Are Possible Complications Of CoolSculpting®?

Temporary symptoms may be noticed after the CoolSculpting® procedure:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Firmness
  • Numbness
  • Tingling or stinging feeling
  • Mild pain
  • Localized bruising

How Long Will The Results Of CoolSculpting® Last?

CoolSculpting® produces long lasting results as long as you continue to follow a healthy lifestyle, eating a balanced diet and regular activity. Because each procedure removes around 20-25 percent of fat cells in the targeted area, many patients choose to undergo repeat treatments to tone and contour their bodies.

If significant weight is gained following CoolSculpting®, fat cells have the potential to grow back. They are not affected by minimal weight fluctuations.

Benefits of CoolSculpting®

  • A targeted cooling process freezes fat cells underneath the skin to the point of elimination.
  • Only fat cells are frozen. Your healthy skin cells remain no incisions, suction hoses, needles or scars.
  • After one visit you will typically see a noticeable reduction of fat from the targeted area.
  • Over the following two to three months, you will fully realize the effects of CoolSculpting® as your body naturally sheds dead fat cells.
  • Once this natural process concludes, it is possible to lose even more with additional appointments. Dr. Widenhouse works with you to create a plan that will help you achieve your desired result.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® in Charleston, SC

If you can grab a handful of fat, you generally will benefit from CoolSculpting®. If you can only pinch an inch, and the skin is tight and can’t be sucked into the CoolSculpting® applicator, you might be better off with traditional liposuction or a laser-assisted lipo procedure.

What Do I Need To Do Before CoolSculpting®?

Prior to your CoolSculpting® procedure, you’ll have a consultation with Dr. Widenhouse. Together, you’ll decide which areas of the body to target with the procedure after a physical evaluation.

What Should I Expect On The Day Of My CoolSculpting®?

When you join us for CoolSculpting®, first you will be positioned comfortably for the duration of the procedure. CoolSculpting® uses cold temperatures, so expect that. The cryolipolysis technique is utilized to complete the procedure, freezing fat cells to destroy them. This technique is not invasive and has the ability to pinpoint fat cells throughout the body.

During treatment, a process known as apoptosis occurs within the fat cells. Cells self-destruct and exit the body naturally over the coming months.

How Long Does It Take To Perform CoolSculpting®?

The treatment time will depend on the size and location of the body area being treated. Generally, CoolSculpting® sessions last under one hour.

CoolSculpting® FAQs

Does CoolSculpting® tighten loose skin?

While CoolSculpting® itself does not tighten loose skin, most of our patients do not experience having loose skin in their treated areas following their CoolSculpting® treatments. This is because the fat reduction process CoolSculpting® inhibits is gradual, allowing the skin to form against your body’s new contours as your results begin to appear.

How much fat can CoolSculpting® remove?

CoolSculpting® can provide up to 25 percent fat loss in each treated area over a three-month period. This fat loss can be performed under the chin, on the upper arms, around the bra line, on the back, on the flanks, around the abdomen, underneath the buttocks, and around the thighs.

How long before you see the results of CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® works through a gradual process called cryolipolysis in which targeted fat is frozen and naturally eliminated from the body over a period of time. Because this process takes time to develop within the body, most patients are able to see the full results of their CoolSculpting® treatments about two to three months following their final treatment session.

Does CoolSculpting® help cellulite?

No, CoolSculpting® is not a treatment for the reduction of cellulite. Rather, CoolSculpting® may result in a reduction in the appearance of your cellulite as you lose fat in your treated areas. To find out if CoolSculpting® is right for you, we encourage you to come in for a private consultation with Dr. Widenhouse and his expert medical team.

Is CoolSculpting® or liposuction better?

While CoolSculpting® and liposuction both work to eliminate unwanted fat in your treated areas, CoolSculpting® is completely non-invasive and pain-free. This means your CoolSculpting® treatments will not require the cutting, scarring, anesthesia, and lengthy recovery period typically associated with traditional plastic surgery procedures like liposuction. To find out if CoolSculpting® is right for you, we encourage you to come in for a private consultation with Dr. Widenhouse and his expert medical team.

How well does CoolSculpting® work?

CoolSculpting® is arguably the most popular non-surgical body contouring procedure we offer. Our patients have boasted losing up to 20 percent body fat in their treated areas, creating a more slim and trim appearance without the downtime or recovery period associated with traditional fat loss treatments.

How many times do you have to do CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is what we like to call a transformational treatment, meaning you will likely require multiple treatment sessions over a period of time to achieve your desired results. Our expert aestheticians typically recommend a series of two to four treatments be performed on each of your desired treatment areas for ultimate results.

How many inches can you loose with CoolSculpting®?

Our patients are proud to have lost an average of three inches from around their waist and an average of one inch around their upper arms and thighs. The number of inches you can lose with CoolSculpting® will likely vary depending on your current weight and your current lifestyle. To maintain your desired results, we typically recommend eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly.

Do you lose weight with CoolSculpting®?

While you will see some drastic changes in your body following your CoolSculpting® treatments, you may not see the numbers on the scale change at all. This is because CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss treatment. Rather, CoolSculpting® freezes your unwanted pockets of stubborn fat so they can be removed from the body and give the appearance of a slimmer, sleeker silhouette.

Does fat come back after CoolSculpting®?

No, the fat lost throughout your CoolSculpting® journey is never replaced with new fat. That being said, it’s important to remember that patients can still gain weight in their treated areas without proper maintenance. This is because remaining fat cells can swell with weight gain and give the appearance of new fat. We always recommend our patients lead a healthy and active lifestyle to ensure they maintain the results of their CoolSculpting® treatments.
