Thigh Lift in Charleston, SC

ignificant weight loss is a stellar accomplishment! Even so, weight loss may leave behind unwanted loose skin and fat tissue across the body, detracting from the body image you desire. If you are concerned about the appearance of loose, sagging skin on your thighs, a thigh lift can help you create firmer, slimmer, more shapely thighs. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Brian G. Widenhouse offers thigh lifts for patients who live in Charleston, Daniel Island, Mount Pleasant, Summerville and the surrounding communities in South Carolina.

What Is A Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin and/or fat. It is not a procedure to reduce cellulite. Sometimes, cellulite can be treated with SmartLipo™, and sometimes SmartLipo™ is sufficient to tighten excess skin.

If you do not require too much lifting, a medial thigh lift may be used. In this type of lift, an incision is made in the groin area, running along the inner thigh. More significant lifting may require the incision be extended around the hip to address the outer thigh and buttocks, known as a lateral thigh lift.

How Much Does A Thigh Lift Cost in Charleston?

The cost of the thigh lift procedure depends on each patient’s treatment plan. For your convenience, you may pay for your procedure using cash, check, or credit card. Should you require it, financing is available.

What To Expect After A Thigh Lift?

Patients should begin walking one day after the procedure to encourage healing and recovery. Following your thigh lift, you will wear compression garments for three to four weeks, which promotes healing and controls swelling. Once you are cleared to go without the compression garments, you may return to normal activities. Vigorous activity may be resumed in six weeks.

Will I Have Scars After Getting A Thigh Lift?

The size of the incision required to complete the thigh lift depends on the patient’s skin elasticity as well as the volume of fat and skin surrounding the thighs. Thigh lift incisions can be placed, so that resulting scars will be concealed by most clothing and even swimsuits.

When Will I See The Results?

Immediately following your thigh lift, a reduction in size will be apparent. As you heal and swelling resolves, more and more, you’ll be able to see the true results of the procedure.

How Long Will The Results Of A Thigh Lift Last?

Maintaining optimal overall health is key to extending the life of your thigh lift results. If you stay at a steady weight, thigh lift results could be apparent for more than 20 years! Weight fluctuations and sun damage to the skin can mar the results of the thigh lift procedure.

Benefits of A Thigh Lift

Thigh lifts allow patients to fit into clothing and swimsuits better, making it simpler to shop for attire. The procedure ensures the thighs will be in proportion with the entire body, improving overall contour and adding definition to the thighs. The thigh region will appear firmer with a shapelier physique.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Thigh Lift?

Often patients who are best suited for a thigh lift are those who have lost significant amounts of weight and are left with excessive loose skin on the thighs. Skin elasticity is minimal to non-existent. If you desire more proportionate, shapely thighs which look and feel firmer you may be a great candidate for a thigh lift.

What Do I Need To Do Before A Thigh Lift?

During your consultation, Dr. Widenhouse will discuss your options with you to determine whether this might be a reasonable choice for you. He will examine your thighs and lower body to see if a thigh lift would treat your areas of concern. Your medical history will be discussed so any underlying medical issues which could disrupt surgery can be identified and planned for.

You’ll need to quit smoking about a month before your thigh lift. Dr. Widenhouse may want you to discontinue taking certain medications or supplements prior to surgery as well.

What Should I Expect On The Day Of My Thigh Lift?

Each thigh lift procedure is devised specifically for the patient to address their unique needs. If a medial thigh lift is to be performed, an incision will be made on the inner thigh, extending to the groin, allowing Dr. Widenhouse to bilaterally excise skin and fat from the thigh. If a lateral thigh lift is necessary, the incision will extend from the inner thigh, up to the groin, and around to the buttocks. This incision allows for the removal, repositioning, and contouring of fat and skin from the inner and outer thigh.

Upon completion, your incisions will be closed with sutures. In recovery, you’ll be brought out of IV sedation and allowed to recover before discharge.

How Long Does It Take To Perform A Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift can last three to six hours, depending on the extent of work to be done.

Can you get lipo on your inner thighs?

Liposuction of the inner thighs is a common body sculpting procedure. The procedure usually takes 1-2 hours, depending on the size of the area treated. Post-operative instructions for liposuction of the medial thighs are similar to other liposuction procedures.
