What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost in Charleston?

The cost of laser skin resurfacing varies depending on the area being treated, the extent of the damage or imperfections in that area and how many treatments are needed to correct the issues. During a consultation, we can discuss the cost involved as well as our payment and financing options.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Recovery

Some patients experience a mild sensation like a sunburn immediately following a Deka DOT treatment that lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. Additionally, there may be some minor tenderness around the treated area that lasts about one day following the procedure. In the next few days of the healing process, the treated skin may begin to flake or peel; however, with the help of certain moisturizers, this issue is not very noticeable and is easily remedied. Just as with the preparation, it is essential to avoid direct sun exposure for a few weeks following the treatments so the skin can heal and to prevent discoloration to the new skin. Sunscreen must always be worn.

When Will I Notice the Results of Laser Skin Resurfacing?

The results from Deka DOT laser therapy are often visible after only one treatment and get better as the healing process continues. The number of treatments varies for each patient and are based on the condition of the skin imperfections and the desired look. Treatments are typically spread out several weeks apart to give the skin the chance to heal and rejuvenate between each session.

What is Deka DOT Laser Therapy?

Deka DOT laser therapy is the best technology for a non-invasive way to resurface the skin of the face and neck, helping our patients reverse the appearance of aged and sun damaged skin, wrinkles, and lines. The DEKA DOT laser improves the volume and texture of skin with minimal downtime. You’ll heal more quickly than from traditional CO2 lasers, giving you great results and a better experience overall.

Is Laser Skin Resurfacing Effective for Birthmark Removal?

Fractional laser skin resurfacing often has the same results on pigmentary birthmarks that it has on sunspots or freckles. The treatments can lighten the birthmark although it is not a long-lasting solution especially if the area is exposed to sun as this causes it to darken again.

On the other hand, vascular birthmarks respond very well to laser treatment. Lasers target blood vessels that make up the birthmarks to significantly lighten or even eliminate them. With this type of birthmark, the results are long-lasting.

What Do I Need to Do to Prepare for Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Preparation for laser skin resurfacing involves preparing the skin to receive the treatments. This includes a topical ointment or serum applied in the days prior to the treatment. Additionally, it is recommended to avoid medications or supplements that thin the blood so that bruising or swelling is minimized.

What Should I Expect on the Day of Laser Skin Resurfacing Work?

The Deka DOT laser skin resurfacing treatment focuses on damaged skin or areas of the skin with visible imperfections. During the treatment, lasers are broken into tiny columns of energy that penetrate the skin to remove damaged skin as well as increase collagen production to stimulate new skin growth. Just like most laser skin resurfacing treatments, the Deka DOT laser targets damaged skin without affecting the surrounding healthy tissue but in a much better, more precise manner.

To minimize any discomfort, a topical numbing cream is applied to the skin prior to the treatment. Protective eyewear is also supplied so that patients are not susceptible to any damage to the eyes. Deka DOT therapy treatments take just a few minutes. Immediately following the treatment, a soothing ointment is applied to help relieve any discomfort.
