Q&A with a Patient: Jason Clark, Laser Tattoo Removal*

Like many of our laser tattoo removal patients in the greater Charleston SC area, Jason wanted a non-invasive way to remove his tattoos with little downtime and minimal risk of scarring. He made the commitment to several laser tattoo removal sessions with us, and he is very happy with his results. Here is our interview with him.

PCPS: When did you first start considering laser tattoo removal? Were you considering alternative procedures?

Jason: It was only a few years after I got my tattoos that I began to regret the more visible ones. After carefully studying all of the other options , I decided on laser surgery due to the very minimal risk of scarring or other noticeable differences afterwards.

PCPS: Did you have specific goals in mind?

Jason: My goals were to remove all of the visible tattoos I had. I have been extremely satisfied with the results

PCPS: How was the attention/follow-up from the staff?

Jason: The staff has consistently exceeded all of my expectations.

PCPS: Was there any staff member who really shined?

Jason: Jonathan (the staff member performing my laser surgery) in particular has stood out as being attentive, accommodating, and personable.

PCPS: Is there any advice you would give others considering the procedure you had done?

Jason: The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll finish. I regret my tattoos, but I have zero regrets about the removal.

PCPS: What was the best thing about laser tattoo removal?

Jason: Having had very visible tattoos on my hands and arms meant constantly swimming upstream to change people’s preconceived notions about me. It’s unfortunate that people draw conclusions based on physical appearance , but also unavoidable. Since having the majority of my tattoos removed, I find that in general people react to me differently. In the past people showed surprisingly little restraint in commenting or asking about my tattoos. The invasive questions from strangers regarding my tattoos is something I certainly don’t miss. Interrogative glances from prospective employers or girlfriends’ parents regarding a regrettable decision made fifteen years earlier are also a thing of the past.

If you have a tattoo that you no longer want, please contact Dr. Brian G. Widenhouse at Port City Plastic Surgery in Charleston, SC to schedule a consultation. At your consult, your tattoo can be evaluated, and you can learn how long it may take to remove.
