Q&A With A Patient: Lori Keele, Breast Augmentation & Tummy Tuck
We were thrilled to help hardworking midlife Mom Lori achieve her goals! She had always wanted bigger, perkier breasts, and sought out Port City Plastic Surgery for a breast augmentation. She was so devoted that she traveled from Tennessee to our offices in Charleston, SC to work with Dr. Widenhouse. Throughout the process, she couldn’t have had a better attitude. Read our interview with her below to learn more about her procedure and her transformation.
PCPS: When did you first start considering a procedure? Were you considering alternative procedures?
Lori: I’ve always wanted bigger breasts, since I was 16. My niece recently had a breast augmentation with Dr. Widenhouse, but kept quiet about it. I knew she looked great, but I couldn’t figure out what she had done! When she spilled the beans, I knew I had to go to Dr. Widenhouse too. I’m 52 years old, and I’ve spent my life so far doing for others. Right then and there, I decided that it was time to do for myself.
PCPS: Did you have specific goals in mind?
Lori: During menopause I gained a lot of weight, then recently lost it the conventional way. I really wanted to correct the excess skin and puckering around my midriff that resulted from my significant weight loss. So in addition to getting the breasts I’ve always wanted, I decided to simultaneously get a tummy tuck to address that issue.
PCPS: How was the procedure itself? How was recovery and the attention/follow-up from the doctor and staff?
Lori: Dr. Widenhouse is just awesome, and the anesthesiologist was great. I didn’t even feel the needle! The staff called to follow up with me after I went home, and when I went back in for my follow-up visit they praised my recovery and made me feel really good.
I work two jobs and they’re both very physical. One is at a trucking company out on the docks where I measure and inspect freight. The other is a home health care position where I care for an elderly woman. I didn’t take any pain pills, and I went back to both jobs after being off for two weeks. It wasn’t a walk in the park, but like my Daddy always said: “if you want something, you’ve gotta work for it!”
PCPS: Was there any staff member who really shined?
Lori: All of them were amazing. Dr. Widenhouse of course. His advice on what size to get and what would work best with my frame, body type and goals was invaluable. Sometimes biggest isn’t the best! I was able to get exactly what I wanted because of his expert guidance.
April, the Physician’s Assistant, really stood out too. She’s very professional and she has a heart, so I didn’t feel embarrassed when I walked in to see her. After the procedure, she showed me how to wrap everything and offered to call. They are good people at Port City Plastic Surgery, every single one.
PCPS: Is there any advice you would give others considering breast augmentation and/or a tummy tuck?
Lori: Do what the doctor tells you! Take the two weeks off he suggests, and don’t try to go back to work early. You’ll be a little sore, but it’s best to let yourself heal. I’m the number one person who wouldn’t – I’m not used to giving myself a break! – but when you want great, symmetrical results you have to give yourself a little time. It’s for the best!
PCPS: What was the best thing about the surgery?
Lori: Hands-down, he results I got. My breast augmentation and tummy tuck make me feel like a new person. A relative of mine put herself on PlentyofFish and used a photo of the two of us after my surgery. She didn’t crop me out of the photo, and the guys were after both of us!
I feel so good about myself now, and this investment I’ve made in myself is definitely great motivation to stay in shape. Absolutely, positively GO to Dr. Widenhouse! Whether you’re going in for a breast augmentation, a tummy tuck or other plastic surgery he will help you achieve your goals and make you feel GREAT in the process!
