Meet Charleston Plastic Surgeon Dr. Wenzinger

Dr. Eric Wenzinger

Dr. Eric Wenzinger is a pediatric craniofacial and cosmetic surgeon who specializes in procedures of the face. He recently moved to South Carolina from Australia but he is not new to the South. His family moved to South Carolina from the DC metro area in 2008 where he finished high school prior to attending the university of Alabama.

While at Alabama, he received a degree in Biochemistry and finished valedictorian of the graduating class of 2014. He attended medical school in Charleston at MUSC where he was inducted into the Alpha omega alpha medical honor society and graduated top of his class. He then moved to Boston where he completed his plastic surgery training in the Harvard Plastic Surgery integrated residency program. While in Boston he had the privilege of participating in the worlds first African American face transplant among many other complex reconstructive procedures at Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and Boston Children’s Hospital. He is passionate about surgical outreach and has completed mission trips to Poland where he treated pediatric Ukrainian refugees affected by the war and has traveled to El Salvador with Global Smile Foundation to provide cleft care. Following his six years in Boston he moved to Melbourne, Australia where he completed his pediatric Craniofacial fellowship at the prestigious Royal Children’s Hospital specializing in cleft lip/palate, vascular malformations and cranial vault reconstruction.

In his time outside the hospital, he is an accomplished portrait photographer recognized in the Lens Culture critics choice competition as a finalist in 2023/2025 and has recently been featured by Kodak and Sports Illustrated. He also has a passion for cooking, coffee, wood working, and outdoor activities. His dog Wilson has been with him since his time at Alabama and at the age of 15 is still going strong.
