Xeomin® in Charleston, SC
Let’s face it – as we get older, we get more fine lines and wrinkles especially those between our eyebrows. In Charleston, Daniel Island, Summerville and Mount Pleasant, SC, Dr. Brian G. Widenhouse restores a relaxed facial expression with Xeomin® on men and women who want a younger, more relaxed appearance.
What is Xeomin® for Frown Lines?
Xeomin® is an injectable FDA approved to diminish upper facial lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows (frown lines) to reveal a brighter appearance. Xeomin® contains botulinum toxin type A, the main ingredient in Botox® and Dysport®, and is also used to treat muscle spasms in the neck and other areas of the body, upper limb spasticity, and cervical dystonia.
It can also be used to treat forehead lines and crow’s feet off-label.
How Much Do Xeomin® Injections Cost in Charleston?
The cost of Xeomin® injections varies and is based on the number of injections needed and if this treatment is performed with other cosmetic procedures. We can go over the costs during a consultation with Dr. Widenhouse as well as our payment options and financing.
Benefits of Xeomin® for Glabellar Lines
Xeomin® is an alternative treatment to Botox® and Dysport®. The benefits of Xeomin® include:
- FDA approved for lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows
- Fast acting
- Painless treatments
- No downtime or recovery
How Does Xeomin® Differ from Other Botulinum Toxin Products?
Xeomin® differs from Botox® and Dysport® because it is considered a “naked injectable.” This means there are no additives in the solution making it less likely for the body to become resistant to Xeomin®.
What Do I Do to Prepare for Xeomin®?
The only preparation involved in Xeomin® is to stop taking any medications or supplements such as ibuprofen, aspirin, Vitamin D, and others at least a week prior to treatment to avoid excessive bruising.

Xeomin® is injected into the muscles of the targeted area. Since it contains botulinum toxin A, it relaxes the nerve endings in the muscles so that they prevent muscle fibers from contracting. Although the treatment is pain-free, we can apply a numbing cream to ensure there is no discomfort from the needle.
How Long Do Xeomin® Treatments Take?
The treatments take about 30 minutes to complete. If necessary, cold packs may be applied to diminish any discomfort.
Possible Side Effects of Xeomin®
Like any treatment, Xeomin can come with possible side effects, but they are usually temporary. These effects of Xeomin can include:
- Bruising
- Swelling
- Allergic reaction
- Headache
- Dry mouth
- Skin infection
- Muscle weakness
