Hacking Your BBL: Getting the Most out of Your Brazilian Butt Lift Results
The Brazilian butt lift is taking the world by storm! With more and more of our patients asking us about this butt augmentation procedure, we thought we should put together everything you need to know about your BBL recovery and how to get the most out of your results.
The BBL Procedure
A Brazilian butt lift is more than just a butt augmentation – it’s a complete lower body makeover. A typical BBL involves removing excess fat from the midsection with gentle liposuction and transferring that fat into the buttocks after it’s been purified. Not only do patients see a bigger contour in their waistline, but they also get to enhance the overall size and shape of their behind. To learn more about the details of your BBL, we encourage you to set up a private consultation with Dr. Widenhouse.
BBL Recovery: Weeks One and Two
One of the most important things to remember when recovering from your BBL is to not put ANY excess pressure on your buttocks. That means no sitting on it for more than a few minutes at a time and only when necessary. When sitting, we recommend using an offloading pillow to ensure your weight is focused more on the back of your legs and thighs. We also recommend keeping your compression garment on at all times (except when you have to shower, of course) and taking short, periodic walks to promote healthy healing and blood circulation.
BBL Recovery: Weeks Three Through Six
At this point, you’ll be able to return back to work and mild exercise. Remember, you still want to protect your transferred fat cells as much as possible until you’re fully healed. If you have a desk job, we recommend using a cushion to sit on throughout your day or to work from a standing desk. We also recommend taking your exercise lightly with long walks or low-impact cardio.
BBL Recovery: Weeks Seven, Eight, and Beyond
By this point in your recovery, you may be feeling back to your normal self and ready for your regularly scheduled activities. While your redistributed fat cells are mostly stable at this point, we still recommend taking lower body strength training easy for the next six to eight weeks. This is because we don’t want you to burn off the fat that you’ve worked hard to have redistributed in the first place.
BBL Nutrition Tips
We always encourage our patients to lead a healthy and active lifestyle following surgery, but many of them don’t consider why. Believe it or not, your diet can have a big impact on the results of your BBL. Eating a diet high in protein, vegetables, and whole grains can enhance the healing process and help your body to retain its muscle mass throughout your recovery process. Feeding your body will also help feed your redistributed fat cells and encourage them to heal properly in their new home.
If you have questions about what you can expect from your BBL, we encourage you to contact us and schedule your private consultation with Dr. Widenhouse today. He’ll be happy to sit down with you, listen to your concerns, and develop a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve your ultimate aesthetic goals.
