Dr. Brian Widenhouse has been performing liposuction since 1998 and was an early adopter of Smart lipo laser liposuction, which he’s performed since 2008. He has extensive experience with body contouring procedures, including liposuction, tummy tucks, breast surgery, and facial cosmetic surgery.

What is Smart lipo?

Traditional liposuction has been used for years by clients who would like to treat areas of the body where fat deposits are unresponsive to diet and exercise. Dr. Widenhouse has been performing laser-assisted liposuction or “Smart lipo” since 2008, a procedure that allows patients to return to normal activities more quickly. Beyond fat removal, the procedure can also provide skin tightening because it promotes collagen production. It also features faster healing and less downtime.

The Smart lipo laser will allow you to literally melt excess fat away, tighten skin, and improve skin elasticity. A laser fiber inside of a one-millimeter tube inserted into the skin delivers powerful laser energy directly to your fat cells. As the laser ruptures fat cells, they drain away as liquid, tissue around the area coagulates, collagen production is stimulated and firmer skin results.

What areas of the body respond best to Smart lipo?

Dr. Widenhouse and his staff will assist you in drawing up the Smartlipo treatment plan that will achieve the best results for you. Smartlipo is typically used to target the neck, jawline, arms, breast, “bra fat”, abdomen, love handles, inner and outer thighs, knees, and saddle bags.

Who is the ideal candidate for Smart lipo?

The Smart lipo procedure is meant for areas that do not respond to diet or exercise. The perfect candidate is in good health and of normal body weight and is struggling with unwanted fat.

How long is the recovery period?

Smart lipo is a minimally invasive procedure that usually requires only local anesthesia. Typically patients can return to work in a day or two and can resume exercise within two weeks.

How many treatments are required?

Typically, only one treatment is required. Results can be seen within a week, with continued improvement over 3 to 6 months.

Smartlipo isn’t for everyone, and not all body types or parts will respond optimally. There are situations when a combination of traditional liposuction and Smartlipo will help a client look his or her best.
